Reading Wranglers was created by the Las Vegas Wranglers in partnership with The Public Education Foundation and is presented by the United Way of Southern Nevada’s Young Philanthropists Society. Reading Wranglers is a program designed to encourage kindergarten through fifth grade students in the Clark County School District to read a designated number of minutes per day. Students who meet or exceed the program’s requirements receive weekly prizes and all who finish the program are entered into a grand prize drawing in recognition of their efforts.
In its inaugural year, Reading Wranglers had 64 participating schools in Clark County. That’s 917 classes and over 22,000 students!
Over 160,000 hours were read, which totals over 10 million minutes!
Student participation by grade level:
- Kindergarten – 2,567
- 1ST Grade – 3,833
- 2ND Grade – 4,098
- 3RD Grade – 3,689
- 4TH Grade – 3,884
