In game one of the first round of the 2012 Kelly Cup Playoffs, the Las Vegas Wranglers shut out the Utah Grizzlies 2-0 tonight.

A scoreless first period left Las Vegas up 12-6 in shots on goal. Just 1:14 into the second, Wranglers center Eric Lampe tallied the first goal of the night for a 1-0 lead. Utah outshot Las Vegas 9-6 throughout the period, but was unable to score.

Three minutes into the third, Lampe notched his second goal of the night to give the Wranglers a 2-0 lead. With Wranglers goaltender Mitch O’Keefe stopping all 21 of the Grizzlies’ shots, Las Vegas took game one in the best-of-five series with the final 2-0 score. Wranglers center Judd Blackwater also collected an assist on both of Lampe’s goals for a two-point game.

The same two teams play game two tomorrow in Utah, and the Wranglers return home to Orleans Arena to play game three on Thursday, April 5, at 7:05 p.m. If necessary, games four and five will be Friday, April 6, and Monday, April 9, at 7:05 p.m. Tonight’s full box score can be found here.
